College Station, Texas —Dr. Noah Cohen, professor of large-animal clinical sciences at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, received the 2008 Schering-Plough Animal Health Applied Equine Research Award at the 10^thWorld Equine Veterinary Association (WEVA) congress in Moscow, Russia.

The award is for his research in equine neonatology and perinatology, most recently focusing on a collaborative study onRhodococcus equifoal pneumonia, a major cause of disease and death in foals.

Cohen received a PhD in epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University and his VMD from the University of Pennsylvania.

WEVA was founded in 1985, with a mission of advancing equine health and offering continuing education for equine practitioners from less-developed countries.
