Bulldog back on club's Top 10 list after 75 years; Lab still No. 1
DVM Newsmagazine

NEW YORK — The Labrador Retriever held onto its position as the nation's most popular purebred dog in the American Kennel Club's annual ranking of the 157 breeds it recognizes. It's been No. 1 every year since 1991.

The bulldog, absent from the Top 10 list for 75 years, returned this year in the No. 10 spot, possibly because of its popularity with celebrities and families. It is the second most-popular dog in the Los Angeles area, the club says.

Here is the rest of this year's Top 10 list: Yorkshire Terrier, No. 2; German Shepherd, No. 3; Golden Retriever, No. 4; Beagle, No. 5; Boxer, No. 6; Dachshund, No. 7; Poodle, No. 8; Shih Tzu, No. 9.
